Our annual programming contest, Philadelphia Classic, is on its way. This year, we plan to hold the contest on either Saturday, February 9th, or Saturday, February 16th, 2008. Are you interested in competing in the contest? Watch this space, and post a comment to let us know of your interest.
The contest is a day long contest at the University of Pennsylvania. High schools can submit teams of 4 students who will compete to answer 8 programming questions.
All Philadelphia-region high schools are invited.

Have you set a date yet? Villa Maria and Malvern Prep are considering sending a team together.
Have you decided on a date for the competition? Malvern Prep and Villa Maria Academy have a team that may be interested.
Hello -- I am the CS teacher at the Horace Mann School in NY -- my students attended the contest last year and loved their experience. We would be excited to return this year - would our NY school be considered? I note that you posted that the contest is open to Philadelphia area schools.
The date has been set for February 9th. Janet, of course you are welcome to bring your school. The contest is open to any HS that can transport itself to the Penn campus.
any word on whether the interface will be same as last time? command prompt? anybody know of a tutorial online about how to code using that interface?
Due to technical difficulties in previous years, we'll be using a new interface. Unfortunately, that interface was custom-developed, and the new one will be too, so it's tough to provide a real tutorial. The environment for grading will likely be command-line based, so you will edit in a text editor.
If you have any suggestions for a contest submission/editing/grading system, we'd love to hear of them.
Additionally, we'll provide training on the day of the contest. The only language we're allowing this year is Java.
When and where will be be able to register our teams?
